With the internet we all lose some privacy. Today KnowThyNeighbor.org is taking that to a new level. KnowThyNeighbor.org is a site dedicated to embarrass those persons who would sign a petition that is anti-gay. In the states of Oregon, Massachusetts, and Florida there have been anti-gay legislation put on the ballot through petitions. In every state many laws have come to be laws by petitions that get the item onto a ballot for voting by the public. KnowThyNeighbor.org wants you to know who signs these petitions. The name and address of everyone that signs these petitions is public information and not private.
KnowThyNeighbor.org is run by the Christ Church of Peace of Florida. It is their belief that one should not be able to sign ant-gay or any hate petitions anonymously. All the names of persons signing these petitions are now seen on the major search engines like Google and Yahoo. For example, type in John Doe in Google and if this person has signed one of these petitions, the KnowThyNeighbor.org site will be one of the sites listed for the search. John Doe will have his name associated with the petition he signed forever. Since KnowThyNeighbor.org is a high volume site, this listing will be one of the first shown for the previously unknown signer.
In today’s world everything is far from private and virtually everything we do becomes public information. Signing petitions has now become one more thing on that long list of items that are public domain. Lesson, don’t sign anything that you don’t want your neighbors, employers, or fellow church members to know about. Think before you sign because your name will be associated with the petition for the rest of your life.

Excerpt from ELCA Assembly
Assembly Encourages Restraint in Discipline of Congregations, Leaders
The Churchwide Assembly made no changes to ELCA standards for professional leaders, declining proposals that suggested specific policy changes. By a vote of 538 to 431, the assembly asked its synods and bishops to “refrain from or demonstrate restraint in disciplining” people and congregations that call otherwise-qualified candidates in mutual, chaste and faithful committed
same-gender relationships, and it called for restraint in disciplining rostered leaders in committed same-gender relationships. The proposal was adopted as a substitute for a recommendation of the Memorials Committee.
Following the decision, Hanson said, “These are words of counsel. They are not words that change the standards of the church. They reflect the mind of this assembly as it seeks to give counsel to the leaders of this church.”
The Task Force for ELCA Studies on Sexuality is currently developing a social statement on human sexuality for consideration by the 2009 Churchwide Assembly. Voting members referred to the task force memorials regarding same-sex blessings, ELCA clergy standards and other matters. The assembly added an amendment to its referral on clergy standards, directing the task force to “specifically address and make recommendations to the 2009 Churchwide Assembly on changes to any policies that preclude practicing homosexual persons from the rosters of this church.”

Mine Tragedy Turns Macabre
Today it was learned that 3 rescuers died and 6 more were injured in the Utah coal mine rescue. Tragedy compounded tragedy today. It is always sad to learn someone lost their life or were injured in the rescue of others.
But were these deaths avoidable. Maybe. It was also learned that prior to the second tragedy twelve rescuers demanded transfers and refused to continue because the mine was unsafe. No one likes to point fingers but if a dozen rescuers said the mine was unsafe, shouldn’t have there been an evaluation of some sort? These are always dangerous situations and rescue is always paramount; but when do you decide to quit and keep the death toll from rising? Should there be an investigation? Yes. If the mine owner knew that the situation was dangerous the overriding concern should be to limit death. If the mine was unsafe before the original tragedy and unsafe afterwards, he may have a total of 9 miner’s deaths on his hands. Very Sad.
Do we all have a part in this tragedy? Indirectly, yes. We all demand cheap energy and cheap energy comes from cheap coal. Expensive coal from regulations would result in higher energy prices and no one is willing to put up with that. These miners mine coal because this nation refuses to do anything about safer and renewable energy sources. Just something to think about!

Truth about Americans and Credit Card Debt:
- The majority of U.S. households have no credit card debt, according to the Federal Reserve's latest Survey of Consumer Finances.
- About a quarter have no credit cards, and an additional 30% or so pay off their balances every month.
- Of the households that do owe money on credit cards, the median balance was $2,200 -- meaning half owe more, half less.
- Only 8.3% of households owe $9,000 or more on their cards.

The Case of our "2 Border Patrol Agents"
U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen Cardone in El Paso, Texas, sentenced Jose Alonso Compean to 12 years in prison and Ignacio Ramos to 11 years several months ago. Since then, the right-wing conservatives have done nothing but complain there was no justice served. There are several points that the news media refuses to include in their consistent complaints of lack of justice.
The fact that the man shot was a drug smuggler is irrelevant. Our laws do not depend on who the victim was or is. We don't give a man charged with vehicular homicide a lighter sentence if he killed "someone who deserved it." We, as a society, don't want our laws concerning rape to take into account the victims history. CNN's constant and ridiculous argument that "he was a drug smuggler" is not the point.
Whether anyone wants to admit it, the man shot was UNARMED and shot in the BUTT. He was shot when he could do nothing to harm either agent. The agents may say that they "thought" they were in danger, but the fact is there is no proof to back up their agrument
A jury of 12 convicted them. This was not simply a judge maing a rash decision. This was a jury of twelve Texans who heard all the evidence and unanamously convicted both of them. They were not convicted of murder but causing serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence and a civil rights violation.
Neither of these men deserve to be released simply because they broke the law and were convicted of harming someone that was dispicable himself. The victim and his life are not the issue. -- by Kevin Rothe, August 1, 2007 for more truth go to http://www.kevinrothe.biz/

More bullshit from President Bush
I was listening once more to the nonsense coming out of the Whitehouse. I just want to take everyone back to 1991. Remember this year? This year Dick Cheney and Colin Powell both repeated that we should never go to Baghdad because it would take a couple million troops and many years to complete. This was also when it took over 2 million Iraq troops to "handle" the countries problems. Fast-forward to today. We believe that because we are so great and have such an impressive army, we can do it with a little over one-hundred thousand troops. Sadam Hussein had millions of troops and they could use terror tactics! Bush believes we can do it with a minor presence! Let’s also look at this surge. We have increased our presence by 25-30 thousand troops. The administration doesn't like to comment on the fact that our allies have withdrawn approximately that many troops in the last 2 years. When you look at the over-all numbers, there is the same amount of "allied" troops in Iraq as there were 2 years ago. What does Bush think he can accomplish? Someday I hope we can realize that you can afford to lose a battle and still win the war. You can withdraw and regroup to fight another day. The BS coming out of the White House that if we withdraw and lose this battle, the war is over. Can you imagine if this country would have felt that way after Pearl Harbor--just surrender to the Japanese because they won one battle! by Kevin Rothe, Greeley CO For more truth go to www.kevinrothe.biz

Telephone companies spying on you and me
I am sure that everyone has heard that Verizon, BellSouth, and AT&T have given the NSA phone records of tens of millions of Americans. This consists of billions of telephone calls. Should we be shocked? No. This is what is going on in America and anyone who has picked up a newspaper in the last few years should not be shocked. Who is really to blame for this? Maybe we all are. We continue to be apathetic when our government breaks the rules of our society. We continue to do business with companies that spy on us. There is a much bigger problem than phone companies spying. We have been complacent while our government, not so quietly, becomes a tyrant.
We have a government that is trying to convince us that we need to be saved from ourselves. We have a government that is trying to scare us into such a frenzy that we welcome and even sometimes demand “Big Brother” type intrusions. The only problem with this attitude of “fight fire with fire” is that everyone gets burned in the end. Didn’t Hitler and Stalin and Mao and many countless others convince their citizens that we only spy on you for your own good? Didn’t these horrible men scare their citizens the same way our government is doing now?
I am reminded that in our past we have not always been a “good” nation. This nation was once allied with Stalin. This nation watched Hitler walk over Europe for years and only fought him once he declared war on us. This nation also has supported leaders from Napoleon to Saddam Hussein. Our government has been friends with tyrants and I only hope that this has not rubbed off on us too much.
For now our government is still controlled by the people. We should not quietly give up our rights. We should not quietly let our government become a tyrant as long as it promises us protection.
As someone wise said, GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK

CELL PHONE RECORDS
I heard something on National Public Radio about cell phone records and how easy it was to get them. I thought that it can’t be that easy or legal. I WAS WRONG!!!
I called T-mobile and asked them about privacy and my cell phone records. They read me the statement and I did find it on there website. The FCC and FTC (Federal Trade Commission) both concur that the actual record of phone calls is public information. Only your personal information like SS# and address are private. WOW!!!
I had to try this out. I went to Google and typed in “cell phone record” (with the parentheses) and I got thousands of related sites; But NPR is correct that there are only about 40 different sites that will sell cell phone records. I decided to try getting the records of someone that I don’t know there SS#, birthdates, or address. I tried one of my cousins in Kansas City. It only cost me $100 and their cell phone number (not even there name) and I received the last 180 days of their cell phone records. WOW!!! The site even sells, for additional cash, the records updated to show the names/address of all the calls instead of just the telephone numbers. WOW!!!
You want to check up on who your wife/husband is actually having lunch with? Want to find out who your kids are talking too? You want proof that your employee is going to the bar too much or is talking with a competitor? You think your friend is going to a Psychiatrist? You want proof that your boss is having an affair and you want a raise? It only costs $100 and few minutes online. What is astonishing to me is that it breaks no Federal or State laws. I was talking to a lawyer friend of mine and he told me that it is all true. I guess that police agencies use this about 50,000 times EVERY DAY!!
If you know someone with a cell phone please tell them or forward this message. Maybe if enough people say something, someday the government might do something about this. OH, AND FOR ALL YOU WORKING FOLKS, DON’T PUT YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER ON YOUR RESUME!!!! by Kevin Rothe, Greeley CO
